Cu 419 ani în urmă, în 24 iulie/3 august, stil nou, 1601 a avut loc lupta de la Guruslău (Gorăslău, astăzi în județul Sălaj). Forţele unite ale lui Mihai Viteazul şi ale generalului Gheorghe Basta au înfrânt armata condusă de Sigismund Báthory. Câteva zile mai târziu (9/19 august) domnul român a fost ucis, pe Câmpia Turzii, din ordinul lui Basta. leviathan.ro
